Who you are
- Controller-level accounting background strongly preferred (former Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leader)
- Deep understanding of AP, AR, POs, jobs/projects, entities/locations, and revenue recognition concepts
- Hands‑on experience with at least one mid‑market accounting platform (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Viewpoint Vista, Spectrum);
experience across multiple is a plus
- Prior experience designing, supporting, or owning system integrations between operational and financial platforms (iPaaS, custom integrations, or native connectors)
- Comfortable reading and interpreting data structures (e.g., imports/exports, mapping tables, reconciliation reports)
- Curious – Naturally digs into how a customer’s business and accounting work, asking “why” and “what if” until the picture is clear
- Tenacious – Will not drop a complex integration or reconciliation issue until it’s understood, resolved, and documented
- Confident – Comfortable leading conversations with Controllers/CFOs and pushing back respectfully when a requested approach introduces risk
- Influential – Able to align diverse stakeholders (operations, finance, IT, leadership) around a clear integration strategy and best practices
- Self‑motivated – Operates with a high degree of ownership; proactively identifies risks, patterns, and opportunities without waiting for direction
- Consultative and empathetic: You listen first, understand the customer’s constraints and goals, and reflect their perspective back clearly
- Best‑practices driven: You still advocate firmly for BuildOps standards and scalable designs, even when it requires change management on the customer side
- Future‑oriented: You design integrations for where the customer is going, not just where they are today—anticipating growth, new entities, and evolving reporting needs
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or financial operations, including significant exposure to accounting systems/ERPs
- 2+ years working with systems integrations, implementation, or technical consulting in a SaaS/ERP or similar environment
- Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and comfort working with structured data (CSVs, mapping templates, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate between accounting, operational, and technical stakeholders
- Direct experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accountant responsible for system configuration or integrations
- Hands‑on experience integrating field service, construction, or project‑based operational platforms with accounting systems
- Familiarity with APIs, middleware, or iPaaS tools (e.g., Workato, Boomi, Celigo, Mulesoft) is a plus; deep engineering background is not required

- Develop standardized recommendations and playbooks for recurring integration issues and patterns to drive consistency across accounts
- Collaborate Across Product and Customer Teams
- Document integration gaps, product limitations, and bugs; propose and escalate solutions to Product and Engineering as needed
