Clay Design Construction & Cabinetry (Clay DCC) is a design-build construction company with an integrated design office, showroom, construction team, and millwork shop under one roof. We build and renovate homes with uncommon care, pairing thoughtful design with excellent execution.

We are looking for a Junior Designer to support the Design team with client communication, selections, renderings, drawings, measurements, documentation, and coordination with our office, site, and millwork teams.

What you'll do

Support client meetings by helping capture needs, preferences, priorities, design direction, decisions, and follow-up items accurately.

Assist with space planning, layout development, material ideas, presentation support, concept boards, finish palettes, and client-facing visuals.

Prepare and revise 2D and 3D visuals, renderings, plans, elevations, schedules, working drawings, and related design documents as assigned.

Support drawing packages in CAD or Revit for client approval, engineering, pricing, site use, and millwork coordination, including demo, framing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, tile, and related scopes as assigned.

Schedule and complete, or assist with, final measures and site verification for interiors, millwork, flooring, electrical, plumbing, and related scopes.

Maintain accurate client worksheets, selections information, finish details, product images, specifications, and supporting documents.

Help prepare purchasing/pricing information with enough detail and lead time for quoting, ordering, site planning, and millwork coordination.

Keep electronic client files, drawings, worksheets, sign-offs, notes, and project documents organized, current, and easy for others to rely on.

Support sign-offs, approval tracking, site packages, pre-start materials, client updates, walkthroughs, punch-list follow-up, closeout, and project learning as assigned.

Build practical design judgment through coaching, site visits, supplier learning, millwork/shop exposure, and steady improvement in technical accuracy and follow-through.

What you bring

Required / strongly preferred





Diploma or degree in Interior Design or a related field preferred.

Entry-level to early-career design experience in residential design, millwork, construction documentation, or a related environment is an asset.

A robust portfolio or clear evidence of design thinking, technical aptitude, organization, and follow-through.

Working proficiency in CAD and Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn additional design, rendering, collaboration, and project systems used by Clay.

Strong English reading, writing, verbal communication, and client-facing professionalism.

Basic understanding of residential construction/design processes and Ontario Building Code requirements, or a strong willingness to learn quickly.

Ability to prepare organized worksheets, selections information, drawings, files, and project documentation with strong attention to detail.

Comfort visiting active construction sites and shop environments while following Clay health and safety requirements and wearing required PPE.

A teachable, curious, practical mindset with interest in design, buildability, client care, and how work moves from concept to construction.

This is a developing design role. The Junior Designer is expected to build technical skill, judgment, site/shop awareness, software capability, and client confidence over time while working under the guidance of the Director of Design and/or Senior Designer. As capability and trust grow, the role may take on more independent design production and project-support responsibilities.
