Job Title: Junior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Red Deer, Alberta – On Site Position

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

CA$58,160.00 - CA$64,400.00 per year

Want to be part of one of the fastest growing corrosion companies in North America? Rysco Corrosion Services is hiring a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Red Deer, Alberta.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in mechanical drafting and design who enjoys working closely with engineering and production teams to develop practical, manufacturable solutions. You will contribute to the design and documentation of oil and gas equipment that is shipped around the world.

The Junior Mechanical Design Engineer will work with more senior engineers and assist with preparation of drawings, calculations and engineering reports or other deliverables as required.

Education, Skills, and Experience

· Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Engineering Technologist, Drafting, or a related field which can become professionally accredited (P.Eng. P.Tech.(Eng.))

· Engineer In Training, Technologist in Training, or status to apply for these

· Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar 3D CAD software)

· Experience with SolidWorks PDM or similar document management systems is an asset

· Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, assemblies, and fabrication processes

· Familiarity with drafting standards such as ASME Y14.5 (GD&T;)

Technical Knowledge (Assets)

· Exposure to oil & gas equipment, piping,



or pressure-related components

· Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, ABSA)

· Understanding of manufacturing methods (machining, welding, fabrication)

· Experience working in a production or shop-supported environment

Responsibilities

· Indirectly report to more senior engineers

· Create and maintain 2D and 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks

· Produce clear, accurate fabrication, assembly, and detail drawings aligned with company and industry drafting standards

· Apply proper dimensioning and tolerancing practices (GD&T;) in accordance with ASME Y14 standards

· Maintain drawing revisions and file structures using SolidWorks PDM

· Support development of design concepts and assist in refining product designs for manufacturability

· Collaborate with engineering, production, and other departments to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective





· Review and revise drawings based on internal feedback, shop input, and project requirements

· Help create and maintain engineering documentation (drawings, work instructions, and supporting materials) to clearly communicate design intent

· Participate with performance and development of Engineering Calculations, Engineering Reports, Procedures, Technical documents and datasheets.

· Participate in design discussions and provide input on mechanical layouts and detailing

· Identify opportunities for improvements in design efficiency, manufacturing processes, and documentation quality

· Support continuous improvement initiatives and comply with Rysco’s Integrated Management System (ISO)

· Participate in Health and Safety initiatives
