Qualifications

MINIMAL FORMAL EDUCATION REQUIRED:

- LPN in good standing and current CLPNM registration.
- Current Basic Life Support certification.

EXPERIENCE:

- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Demonstrated good judgement, decision making and problem solving skills in serving the needs of the clinic and patients
- Must be self-motivated, punctual, show initiative and able to work independently in a fast paced environment
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Ability to deal diplomatically and professionally with clinic staff, hospital staff, patients and external partners.
- Must demonstrate an appreciation and familiarity of the various communities and cultures served and be sensitive in dealing with culturally-related issues
- Must be professional and maintain a high level of confidentially at all times.
- Must show initiative in pursuing professional development as related to the position and personal learning and development.
- Must possess a dependable, consistent and reliable work record,



including attendance at work.
- Must have a clear Criminal Record and Child/Adult Abuse Registry check.
- Must be registered on the active practicing registry with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba.
- A satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.

OTHER JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Fluency in Oji-Cree would be an asset.

Key responsibilities

Clinical duties: not exceeding above stated skills and capabilities

- Obtains patient charts and updates patient information and paperwork in file.
- Performs routine screening of patients and records findings.
- Prepares patients for medical examination.
- Organizes laboratory and x-ray requisitions as ordered and provides accurate instructions to patients ensuring aseptic technique in the collection of specimens and patient preparation for laboratory testing.
- Assists the primary care provider during patient examinations and procedures.
- Supervise patient flow to and from primary care provider offices to ensure efficient prioritization has taken place.
- Performs treatments such as; simple dressing changes, suture/staple removal, IM and SC injections, Ventolin/Atrovent and Pulmicort Nebulizer Treatments,



eye and ear irrigation and other treatments within the LPN’s scope of practice. The LPN monitors Patient progress and informs and consults with the Primary Care Provider as necessary.
- Performs related office duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned and necessary in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Completes Advance Access activities as required.
- Assists with Telehealth appointments as required.
- May be required to perform related duties not exceeding skills and capabilities as required.
