LJ Welding Automation

Edmonton

Are you the kind of person who looks at a complex assembly drawing, spots a way to streamline the workflow, and thinks, "Challenge accepted"? Do you have a knack for turning technical concepts into precision production reality?

At LJ Welding Automation, we are a global leader in developing welding automation products built and tested for any environment. We proudly manufacture welding positioners, pipe rollers, tank turning rolls, and column welding manipulators for diverse industries including aerospace, renewable energy, healthcare, oil and gas, and infrastructure. Would you like to be part of a team that designs and builds machines used to manufacture rockets for space exploration, automated fabrication of wind towers, or robotic welding of MRI scanners across North America and around the globe?

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Technologist to join our production team. You won't just be pushing paper or sitting behind a screen all day—you will be right in the thick of our manufacturing operations, serving as the crucial bridge between engineering design and shop floor execution.

What You’ll Be Doing

Step into a dynamic, hands-on role where your technical expertise directly fuels our production line. Working closely with the Production Manager, you will be the go-to expert for technical documentation, process improvements, and active problem-solving.

- Bring Designs to Life: Prepare comprehensive drawing packages, review and create Work Order Travelers, and handle Engineering Change Requests (ECR) driven revisions to drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks.
- Optimize the Floor:

Develop process improvements that boost workflow efficiency, edit Methods of Manufacture, and open jobs in our ERP system (Epicor Kinetic).
- Solve and Support: Identify production roadblocks, analyze root causes, and devise smart solutions—escalating complex challenges to management when needed.
- Keep Things Connected: Manage CADLINK revisions, send PDF and DXF files to vendors and suppliers, and ensure seamless communication across our multidisciplinary teams.

What You Bring to the Table

- You hold a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Design Technology, and you currently hold ASET registration (or are fully able to meet the eligibility requirements).
- You have a rock-solid understanding of engineered shop drawing standards (ASME Y14), tolerances, weldment detailing, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- You are proficient in 3D modeling and drafting using SolidWorks, alongside strong computer skills including MS Office Products. Experience with CAD administration systems (SolidWorks PDM, CADLink) and ERP platforms (especially Epicor Kinetic) will put you right at the front of the line.

- You know your way around Lean Manufacturing principles and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- You bring strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the flexibility to thrive in a quick-paced environment.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us We know that a great job is about more than just the work you do. We offer a solid lineup of benefits to keep you energized, healthy, and balanced:

- Comprehensive Health Coverage: Full dental, vision, and extended health care for you and your family.
- Peace of Mind: Life and disability insurance, plus a robust Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to support you through all of life’s stages.
- Great Culture: Regular company events where we take a break from projects to connect and celebrate as a team.

Ready to Get Started? If you’re looking for a role where your technical skills are respected, your problem-solving abilities shine, and no two days are the same, we want to hear from you.

Apply today and help us build the future of manufacturing automation!
