Purpose Of Position
As a QA Technician, you will assist with testing all development to ensure that new products and features meet the needed requirements and that existing features remain stable and ready for customers. This role requires a technical understanding of Hexagon Teleop line of products and how to effectively test their functionality.
Major Areas Of Responsibility
- Monitor testing backlog
- Test new development to ensure stability and requirement compliance
- Create and maintain a suite of test cases for product functionality and update as required
- Create concise bug reports in the bug tracking system
- Work closely with the software development team and communicate results effectively
- Document, communicate, and make test results available for other team members (e.g., JIRA, Test Rail)
- Carry out in‑house and field testing of equipment and software as required
- Install, use, and maintain various testing equipment for the QA department
- Participate in all workflows and activities as a team member
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Track progress and organize tasks using JIRA
Knowledge And Experience - Required
- Postsecondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or another technical field
- Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in a QA/QC role
- Experience working in a software development environment
- Understanding of SDLC; exposure to Scrum methodology and Protected
- Experience in an ISO 9001 environment is considered an asset
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- High level of personal drive, self‑motivation, and adaptability to change
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with technical and non‑technical colleagues
- High attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
- Strong technical and computer skills, including understanding of networking setups, especially Wi‑Fi
- Familiarity with programming languages
- Familiarity with Azure/Cloud technologies
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with software architecture across multiple components and languages
- Experience with multiple operating systems: Linux, Unix, Windows
- Experience with testing/coding tools such as TestRail, JIRA, Git, Jenkins, or equivalents
- Background in a technical role within the software lifecycle
- Experience with modern DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure
- Experience in robotics, electronics, or automation is a plus
- Knowledge of or experience in the mining industry
- Programming and/or automated testing experience is an asset
- Working knowledge of CAN Bus, Serial, and Ethernet protocols is an asset
Travel
- Occasional travel to the Dowling office for technical discussions, testing, and project alignment
Location
Sudbury Area or nearby cities. Must be open to hybrid in the Sudbury/Dowling office 2–3 days/week on average.
