Mining Engineering Director

About the Opportunity

Our client is a well-established Canadian multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm with decades of experience delivering engineering, procurement, project management, and construction support services across complex industrial projects.

As part of an exciting strategic growth initiative, the organization is expanding its presence within the mining sector and is seeking an experienced mining engineering leader to help establish and grow its mining practice across Canada.

The Role

We're seeking a senior mining engineering professional who combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership, business development, and client relationship skills.

Reporting to executive leadership, you will help drive the growth of the mining business by leading technical projects, developing client relationships, identifying new opportunities, mentoring technical teams, and contributing to the overall strategic direction of the practice.

This position offers the chance to build and influence a growing mining consulting group while collaborating with experienced multidisciplinary engineering professionals across a broad range of industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

- Provide senior technical oversight for mining engineering projects.
- Lead and support projects from early-stage studies through detailed engineering, construction support, commissioning, and operational readiness.
- Ensure technical excellence, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.




- Mentor and develop engineers while promoting engineering best practices.
- Support continuous improvement of technical standards and project execution.

Business Development & Client Relationships

- Build and maintain strong relationships with mining owners, operators, consultants, EPC/EPCM organizations, and industry partners.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the mining sector.
- Support proposal development, technical presentations, and client meetings.
- Represent the organization at industry conferences and networking events.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor throughout project development.

Strategic Growth

- Contribute to the long-term growth strategy of the mining practice.
- Help identify priority markets, commodities, and growth opportunities.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing technical team.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering groups to deliver integrated project solutions.
- Foster partnerships with contractors, suppliers, and industry stakeholders.

Project Leadership

- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management.
- Manage technical risks while ensuring successful project delivery.
- Participate in project reviews and executive reporting.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess:





- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada (or eligibility for registration).
- 15+ years of progressive mining industry experience.
- Experience leading mining projects through multiple phases of project development.
- Strong understanding of mine development, mine infrastructure, mineral processing, and supporting facilities.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering or consulting environments.
- Demonstrated business development and client relationship management experience.
- An established professional network within the Canadian mining industry.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to help grow a business.
