Position Summary: Reporting to the Vice President of Development and working closely with the CEO and Founder, the Senior Development Officer (SDO) is responsible for building a pipeline of major gifts ($5K or more) prospects to secure funding to support JUMP Math’s mission to create a more numerate and equitable society through mathematics education.

This is a full-time role with advantages.

Location of Work: This role must be located in the Greater Toronto area and is intended to be a hybrid role that would be required to attend in person meetings at the JUMP Math offices or other locations in the GTA.

Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000

Key Accountabilities

Major Gifts Strategy & Execution:

• Actively develops and manages a portfolio of approximately 100-150 prospects and donors at different levels of engagement from identification/qualification through to cultivation, solicitation and stewardship both in person and virtually





• Participates in and supports the development of program priorities/campaign catalogue of opportunities for donors and prospects

• Actively supports efforts to prepare JUMP Math for a future comprehensive campaign.

• Co-develops and implements a targeted strategy to increase revenue from medium to high-net-worth individuals and organizations

• With support from the team, crafts personalized and engaging proposals, letters and presentations that align with the interests and philanthropic goals of major donors

• Works with the senior leadership to identify potential funder opportunities to reach and/or exceed annual fundraising goals and targets

Donor Cultivation & Stewardship:

• Builds and maintains strong, long-term relationships with major donors, including regular meetings, personalized communications, and appropriate recognition activities.

• Collaborates with partners to create and execute tailored stewardship plans to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of major donors, ensuring gifts are handled and recognized according to JUMP Math policies and practices

• With the support of the wider team, provides annual updates to donors on the impact of their gifts and the progress of the organization’s programs

• Work with the development team to ensure that acknowledgements, tax receipts, invitations, and other correspondence are sent in a timely manner

Strategic Planning & Reporting

• Collaborates with the VP Development, the CEO and Founder to establish goals and strategies for major gift fundraising efforts

• Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of major gift campaigns, providing regular reports on progress, outcomes, and insights

• Adjust strategies as needed to ensure targets are met and exceeded.

• Utilizes organizational database to track and report on all contacts with major gift donors and prospects

Donor Research & Prospecting:

• Works closely with the team and external vendors to conduct basic prospect research to identify and evaluate potential major gift prospects (fit and affinity for the cause)

• Utilizes data and analytics to prioritize and strategize outreach efforts for maximum impact

Collaboration & Team Leadership:





• Works closely with the development team to align major gift strategies with broader fundraising efforts and organizational goals

• Provides mentorship and guidance to staff or others involved in major gift cultivation or initiatives

• Strategic mindset with previous experience in managing a portfolio of major gift donors

Education and Experience (minimums)

• A post-secondary degree or diploma; or equivalent work experience in fundraising, non-profit/charity sector or sales/revenue generation in the private sector

• 5 years of experience in fundraising, with a proven track record of securing 5-7 figure gifts or corporate partnerships

• Experience in all aspects of major gift fundraising, including cultivation and solicitation of gifts

• Demonstrated success in building and nurturing relationships with medium to high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and/or corporations.

• Previous success in maintaining a portfolio of donors/prospects/funders/partners with moves management processes and documentation

• Experience with creating compelling proposals and presentations for donors/prospects

• Experience with donor/prospect data management systems

• A passion for education and the opportunity to positively impact the lives of children and learners

• CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive designation) would be an asset but is not a requirement
