Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess visual acuity, refractive errors, and ocular health using advanced diagnostic tools.
- Diagnose and manage a variety of eye conditions, including glaucoma, cataracts, and pediatric vision issues.
- Prescribe corrective lenses, medications, or treatments tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Educate patients on eye health maintenance, proper contact lens use, and preventive care strategies.
- Collaborate with optical staff to recommend appropriate eyewear solutions and ensure optimal patient satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems such as Epic or similar platforms.
- Stay current with the latest developments in optometry and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
Skills
- Proven optical experience with strong knowledge of vision correction techniques and ocular diagnostics.
- Experience working with pediatric patients to provide age-appropriate eye care solutions.
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including senior care patients.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to eye health and general healthcare practices.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems like Epic for documentation and patient management.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to patients of all ages.
- A proactive sales mindset to recommend suitable eyewear options while prioritizing patient needs.
