Reporting to: Manager, Payroll Services
Description: Under the direction of the Manager, Payroll Services, the Payroll Analyst works independently to perform all tasks related to end-to-end payroll processing. This involves preparing and processing all payroll transactions in the iSYS Works and iSYS Web Payroll System, as well as calculating and processing specialized payments where applicable.
The Payroll
Analyst coordinates the payroll cycle to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule, while maintaining payroll controls and documentation and proactively identifying and communicating payroll issues and risks.

Analyst is responsible for leading the year-end process, preparing Records of Employment, performing payroll accounting functions, and administering OMERS and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan processes.

Analyst liaises effectively with internal and external stakeholders and responds to payroll and pension-related inquiries in a professional and timely manner. The role requires exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to be detail-oriented, organized, exercise sound judgment, demonstrate initiative, and meet strict deadlines. Other duties will be assigned as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years full cycle payroll processing.
- Minimum 2-year college program in business administration preferred.
- National Payroll Institute Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Designation required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of payroll legislative requirements including, Canada Revenue Agency, Service Canada, Employment Standards Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and Employer Health Tax Regulations.
- Experience in a unionized and educational or public sector setting is considered an asset.
- Excellent working knowledge of computerized payroll systems and computer applications such as Microsoft Excel/Access/Word/Windows and other software.
- Experience with iSYS Works and iSYS Web Payroll System is a definite asset.
- Knowledge of OMERS and/or Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter with the proven ability to multi-task, effectively prioritize competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, demonstrate initiative, and maintain a high level of attention to detail while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of the end-to-end payroll cycle through proactive planning, organization, communication, and follow-through.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining standardized payroll processes, documentation, internal controls, and continuous process improvement.
- Ability to work successfully in a team atmosphere and demonstrate maturity when dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.

Salary: Professional Administrative Support Staff (PASS 5) $70,872 to $88,588
