Position Summary The Production Manager assists and works closely with the Plant Manager with day-to-day production operations including production planning, production activities and quality control. The incumbent plays a key role in ensuring the successful operations of the plant.

Responsibilities Production/Operations: Oversees framing area, treating, shipping, receiving, maintenance and quality control activities. Support plant manager with management duties. Approve production orders and interacts frequently with the procurement and planning groups.

Collects, maintains and review production data for potential improvements. Actively participate in cycle and annual inventory. Monitors quality and workmanship to ensure quality control. Works closely with various departments to optimize inventory loss with maximum recovery.

Participates in facility improvements projects. Available for on call for emergencies and alarms. Performs other duties as assigned.

Employee Relations: Planning of production schedules and communicate with Production Supervisor for labor requirements. Manages payroll transactions. Manages employee relations and performance management. Handle job posting and recruitment. Provides/oversees training for all production staff and supervisors. Ensures plant guidelines are enforced. Manages employees’ vacation requests.





Health and Safety and TRD programs: Ensures that environmental and safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed. Provides guidance on occupational health and safety programs and on the TRD program. Informs employees on safety process and procedures. Actively participates in the health and safety committee. Assist the plant manager with workplace safety insurance board accident reporting when required. Commits to plant safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications 5+ years of experience in production management, preferably in a manufacturing or wood products workplace. Mechanical and Technical skills and competencies is required. Proficiency in English, spoken and written.

Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated problem solving, prioritization and conflict resolution skills. Proven ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations. Excellent leadership skills - “Lead by example” work manner.

Ability to train, motivate and coach employees. Time and stress management.

Intermediate

Computer skills (Microsoft Office). SAP environment experience is an asset. Knowledge of wood treating industry. Knowledge of health and safety Standards.
