Canada The Programmer Analyst provides specialized database development services, solutions and applications to enable the Client-Partners to better monitor, measure, manage and report on their programs and projects. The incumbent communicates with stakeholders, defines business requirements, considers technology options, recommends and implements optimal database development work, performs testing, debugging and fixes, migrates data to new or improved database applications, and provides maintenance, support and training to the Client-Partners.
Key and Periodic Activities
The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative but not all-inclusive:
Primary
- Define, design and develop systems architecture specifications and parameters for hardware and software capabilities
- Define scope and nature of work, and gather user needs information and business requirements
- Perform testing and find solutions to existing or potential problems (e.g. debugging)
Other
- Carry out maintenance, including migrating data to new or improved databases
- Provide support and training to the Client-Partners
- Other duties as assigned

General and Specific Knowledge
- Software development, database design and computer science
Formal Education And/or Certification(s) And Experience
- Minimum: college diploma in computer science with six years’ relevant experience, or the equivalent
