We are seeking a detail-driven Projectionist & Console Operator to serve as the technical lead in our theatre operations, mastering both analog mechanics and modern control systems to deliver flawless visual and acoustic experiences.

Role Summary

Operating on a rotating schedule between Lead Projectionist and Console Operator, you will be the technical backbone of our theatre presentations. You will oversee film loading, show file ingestion, real-time optic, lighting, and sound calibration, and environmental control within technical spaces—ensuring every show meets the highest standard of presentation quality.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead Projection Operations: Serve as the technical lead for theatre operations. Precision-thread analog film and load soundtrack/digital show files into dedicated playback and control systems, maintaining peak visual fidelity and spatial audio alignment.
- Live Console Command: Operate the venue console during live shows. Execute real-time adjustments to focus and field lenses while actively controlling multi-channel lighting, sound, and video projection setups from the central operator deck.
- Systems Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine technical care and first-line troubleshooting across projection, console, and audio hardware. Maintain clean, organized technical quarters (booth, mechanical, and storage spaces) and assist field engineers with quarterly servicing, minor overhauls, and emergency repairs.
- Environmental & Telemetry Monitoring: Maintain strict booth and equipment hygiene.



Actively monitor HVAC telemetry—ensuring room temperature, relative humidity, and pressure remain within exact operational tolerances. Track Closed-Circuit Cooling Unit (CCU) pressure, flow rate, and filtration to protect sensitive hardware.
- Archival Media Preservation: Enforce quality-assurance protocols for physical film prints and matching audio tracks. Safely handle, inspect, and store unused media to prevent physical or environmental damage and maximize print lifespan.
- Show Control & Show Cues: Design, test, and execute precise timing and cuing for lighting, audio, video clips, and projection equipment. Maintain seamless comms between the booth and front-of-house staff to guarantee consistent, high-grade audience experiences show after show.
- Technical Asset & Inventory Tracking: Maintain accurate documentation, shift logs, and inventory records for technical supplies, replacement parts, and media assets.

What We Are Looking For
- Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with cinema projection systems (film threading/handling plus digital playout architecture), venue control consoles, and live AV routing.
- Precision & Detail-Oriented Mindset: Strong operational discipline regarding equipment cleanliness, environmental tolerances (HVAC and CCU telemetry), and archival media handling.
- Troubleshooting Aptitude: Ability to diagnose mechanical, optical,



or signal chain issues on the fly and support service technicians during complex hardware maintenance.
- Workflow & Communication Skills: Transparent communication for show cuing and team coordination between technical booths and front-of-house personnel.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working a rotating shift schedule covering both booth command and live console operation.

Experience & Education
- 2-5+ years of experience in audiovisual production, live events, broadcast, or AV system installation
- Post-secondary education or diploma in audiovisual, broadcast, electronics, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience is an asset.
