A Roads Worker repairs broken and eroded roads on highways, municipal roads, and rural roads. Roads Workers transparent debris from roads to maintain hazard free roads. Also called Highway Maintenance Workers.
Roads Worker Responsibilities:
Repair broken roads on highway, town, and city roads.
Operate machinery to dig up holes, pour concrete, and smooth out.
Set up cones and signs to alert motorists.
Plow snow.
Explicit off debris.
Paint dividing lines between traffic lanes.
Lay asphalt.
Patrol roads for hazard, snow/ice conditions and maintenance/repair needs.
Inspect and maintain operating equipment.
Change vehicle fluids, including greases and oils.
Roads Worker Requirements:
High School Diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
Full driver’s license.
6 months’ previous experience as a Roads Worker.
Experience servicing a wide range of heavy machinery preferred.
Valuable working knowledges of road safety practices.
Excellent teamwork skills.
Successful completion of provided training.
Outstanding verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Physically fit, able to spend long periods of time on your feet.
