Demonstrates the Mission, Vision and Values of New Vista Care Home
Provide personal care and assistance to residents such as bathing, skin care, grooming, dressing and toileting. Encourages and assists with opportunities for recreation, spiritual, physical and social activities.
Assist with food and fluid intake. This may include the serving of food and nourishment, prescribed food supplements and collection of dishes.
Performs minor procedures such as the application of non-prescription creams and lotions, obtains specimens (such as urine sample), weighing of residents and monitoring of bowel function and colostomy care.
Ensure that resident care is delivered in a way that acknowledges resident choice, dignity, privacy, independence, and individuality in a home like setting. Demonstrate confidentiality.
Operate lift and bathing equipment as required for your residents and ensuring the care plan for safety techniques and procedures are followed with each lift and transfer.
Report, record and document care provided.
Demonstrate excellent infection control knowledge and actions.
Report changes in Residents physical, mental or emotional condition
Maintain personal competence to carry out the functions expected in the role by the organization with a commitment to continuous education.
Be involved in on-going organizational and professional quality improvement activities.
Maintain work area clean and in secure condition. Make beds, tidy tub rooms and linen carts. Dispose of dirty linen. Mop spills.
Commitment to safety. Report unsafe or hazardous conditions to the Nurse and respond to emergencies according to established policies and procedures.
Attend in-service, training as required and purse career development

and wishes.
Perform other related or assigned duties as required or assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE - -
Minimum grade 10 graduation plus graduation from a recognized Resident Care Aide program. Registered in the BC Care Aide Registry
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to deal with others effectively
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
Ability to organize work
Ability to organize work and operate related equipment
