Overview:
The maintenance person requires skills in many different areas- multitasking, prioritizing, and a lot of physical labour. Much of the job involves performing routine preventative maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of every part of the hotel. Excellent record keeping is essential.

Duties:
Repair and maintain plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, and heating systems.
Repair windows, doors, locks, floors, woodwork, drywall, and other parts of building structures.
Troubleshoot, inspect and diagnose problems and determine the best way to correct them, frequently checking blueprints, manuals, and parts catalogs.
Using common hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches and hammers, as well as specialized equipment and electronic testing devices, replace or fix worn or broken parts, where necessary, and paint.
Make adjustments to correct malfunctioning equipment and machines.
Perform routine preventative maintenance and ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently,



and the physical condition of the building does not deteriorate.
Ability to work with limited supervision.
Keep valuable records of all work done.

Skills:
Secondary education.
Minimum of 3 years experience in maintenance and repairs.
Wide-ranging maintenance and repair knowledge.
Knowledge of heating and cooling systems.
Knowledge of cleaning equipment.
Trained in WHMIS.
Skill in setting priorities.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Skill in speaking, reading and writing English.

Physical demands require being able to work in a standing position for long periods of time. Lift and move up to, but not limited to 50 lbs. Reach, stretch, bend and stoop when required. Work in uncomfortably hot or cold environments, in awkward and cramped positions, or on ladders.
