Summary of Duties

We are seeking an experienced RPN to work in the fast-paced environment of the Colposcopy Unit & the Cystoscopy Unit, assisting with procedures and providing Person Centred Care. The RPN will participate as a member of the ambulatory care team in a manner that reflects the Hospital’s philosophy and mission of service, and which promotes and maintains positive public relations with patients, visitors and hospital staff. The RPN works as a GU tech in the Cystoscopy clinic with after-hour on call duties.

The RPN should have an ability to adapt to a rapid-changing and stressful environment, and may be requested to float to other procedure-related areas in the OR & Related Services.

Qualifications/Skills
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Completion of Laser certificate as an asset
Recent Gynecology/Urology experience as an asset
Knowledge of sterilization process/sterile techniques, and experience preparing patients for sterile procedures




Expertise in the performance of gynecological operative techniques
Minimum one year consistent experience with Foley catheterization.
Knowledge of vasectomies, bladder scans and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
Experience and/or demonstrated familiarity and knowledge with urological procedures such as Retrograde Pyelogram and Urethral Dilation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and ability to prioritize in a stressful environment required
Excellent time management and organization skills
Excellent teamwork within a multidisciplinary team, including students
Demonstrated commitment to Person Centred Care approach and principles
Demonstrated robust skills in patient teaching
Demonstrated interest in personal professional development
Demonstrated leadership/and strong conflict management skills required
Competent computer skills required
