- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
- Recent two years experience (within the last 5 years) in the care of adult oncology patients in a dedicated oncology setting
- Current CON(c) certification
- Successful completion of Registered Nurse Physical Assessment Course, or equivalent
- Current BCLS certification with ongoing re-certification mandatory
- Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and patient teaching/counseling skills
- Demonstrated organizational and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within the interdisciplinary health and support team
- Experience with primary nursing in an outpatient setting
- BScN an asset

Juravinski Cancer Centre Clinics (JCC Clinics) provides services to facilitate the consultation and planning of specialized care, treatment and follow up of patients with cancer. JCC Clinics supports outpatient care within six large clinics, across all disease sites and treatment modalities, serving around 400 patients daily. The unit includes our Primary Nurses, our Clinic Clerks, Lobby and Laboratory Reception Clerks, our Clinic Health Care Aides, our New Patient Referral Clerks and our Patient Registration Clerks.

There is also interaction with physicians, allied health professionals, Customer Support Services and with other Henderson Hospital staff through treatment and laboratory services.

Reporting directly to the Clinical Leader, JCC Clinics, the Primary Nurse accepts privileges and responsibilities of authority,



accountability and autonomy for patient care and professional development.

The Primary

Nurse will provide patient-centred nursing care for oncology patients (within specific disease sites and treatment modalities) and their families based on the values of respect, caring, innovation and accountability.

Primary

Nurses work with oncologists and with their nursing peers within Disease Site Teams to plan and deliver care. Nursing care is provided based upon competencies of direct comprehensive and supportive care, navigating the system, maintaining professional practice, and through collaborative and evidence-based nursing practice.

Primary

Nurses deliver significant telephone-mediated care.
