RESEARCH SECURITY ANALYST (BAND LEVEL 8) Research Initiatives and Services

(Contractual Position to March 31, 2027; Possibility of Extension)

Requirements Reporting to the Research Security Manager, the Research Security Analyst will support the advancement and implementation of research security practices at Memorial. The position will assist in strengthening processes and initiatives that safeguard research while promoting compliance with federal research security policies, guidelines, and best practices.

The ideal candidate will apply knowledge of research security, legal and regulatory compliance, geopolitics, and/or national security; demonstrate a commitment to staying informed on emerging national security and geopolitical issues as they pertain to the University environment; maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information; effectively manage priorities and changing requirements; and work within tight timelines. Duties include, but are not limited to:

- Conducting ethical, advanced, comprehensive online research while systematically documenting findings.
- Preparing detailed reports involving sensitive and complex matters.
- Developing, reviewing, and contributing to new and existing policies, procedures, guidance resources, etc.
- Applying relevant legal, regulatory, and policy frameworks to assess and mitigate research security risks.
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of website content.
- Supporting initiatives that strengthen and promote the University's research security culture.

Qualifications

- Experience (2-3 years) in research security, or in an academic, funding agency,



government national security, or legal environment.
- A university degree in Science, Engineering, Business, Law, Political Science, International Relations, or in a field of specialization appropriate to the position
- Exceptional online research skills, including the ability to conduct ethical, comprehensive internet investigations, identify credible sources, and uncovering hard-to-find information with accuracy.
- Experience in developing policies, processes, guidelines, and informational resources.
- Strong report writing skills, demonstrating accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail
- High proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- A strong willingness to learn, adapt, and collaborate.
- Knowledge of the academic research environment, including policies and procedures related to various federal and granting agencies.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Knowledge and/or experience in research security, open-source intelligence gathering, cybersecurity, controlled goods, sanctions, and/or foreign influence as they relate to the research workplace would be considered an asset

SALARY $64,361 - $87,763 per annum (Management and Professional) An upscale hiring step has been applied to this position (Step 8)
