Role Details

When you volunteer at the Canadian Cancer Society you have real impact. The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is a volunteer-led event and the largest breast cancer fundraiser in Canada. Join us on event day in your local community. You can choose a specific role and shift(s) based on availability.

Description The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run.

This year’s event will be taking place on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at Kwantlen Polytechnic University Surrey Campus.

Please note: returning volunteers are encouraged to apply for this position.

- Maintain communication with Route Leads, Logistics Team, and Route Marshals
- Carry and monitor radio equipment throughout the shift
- Remain stationed at an assigned kilometre marker unless otherwise directed
- Report emergencies, medical concerns, route congestion, hazards, or incidents
- Confirm participant flow and route status at assigned checkpoints
- Accessibility: please note that this role requires walking and being on your feet throughout the shift
- Assist with clean up and site tear down





Why we need you It is the largest single-day, volunteer-led event in Canada in support of the breast cancer cause.

What we're looking for The ideal candidate for this volunteer role has:

A volunteer hours verification letter will be provided upon request.

Volunteer t-shirts will be provided.

Your commitment

Availability on event day - Sunday, October 4, 2026. Shift time: 7AM - 3:30PM. The end time of the shift may occur earlier than scheduled.

Location: Kwantlen Polytechnic University Surrey Campus – 12666 72 Ave, Surrey, BC V3W 2M8.

Please note that Setup Day will take place one day prior to the Run Event, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the same location. Volunteers are welcome to register for both Setup Day and Run Event Day; please submit a separate application under the ‘Run Site Setup Team’ volunteer position.
