ABOUT MAAN FARMS
Maan Farms is a third-generation farm and agritourism destination in Abbotsford, BC. Each fall, our Halloween Fright Festival combines haunted attractions, live entertainment, food and an energetic midway on a real working farm.
We are looking for an experienced Lead Stage Manager / Live Show Producer to take ownership of the festival’s live midway performance program.
THE ROLE
This role blends stage management, live-show production and performer leadership.
You will help turn creative ideas into four repeatable outdoor shows, prepare the performers and operating system, and lead the live performance operation throughout the Halloween season.
You will have room to shape how the shows work while collaborating closely with Maan Farms’ owner and creative team on the final direction.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Turn approved creative concepts into practical scripts, show loops, schedules and cue plans.
- Help determine cast requirements, role assignments, understudies and coverage.
- Plan and lead rehearsals, blocking, character work and performance coaching.
- Create call sheets, prompt books, performer schedules and nightly operating plans.
- Coordinate with audio, lighting, fog, microphone, costume, prop and farm-operations teams.
- Lead the live performance program across four outdoor shows each night.
- Keep shows on time, performers ready and the audience experience consistent.
- Adjust calmly when weather, attendance, performer availability or technical conditions change.
- Make appropriate live hold, coverage and safety decisions.
- Maintain clear scripts, schedules, checklists, change logs and nightly reports so the program does not depend on one person’s memory.
- Train the Assistant Stage Manager to serve as a capable backup caller.
WHO WILL DO WELL HERE You may come from theatre, festivals, attractions, immersive entertainment, live events, touring, film/television production or another environment where people, timing and technical elements must come together live.
You do not need previous haunted-attraction experience.
You will likely thrive here if you:
- Have personally helped take a live production from an unfinished idea into a repeatable show.
- Can direct and coach performers—not just administer a schedule.
- Understand cueing, prompt books and communication with technical teams.
- Stay composed when several things go wrong at once.
- Can make practical decisions without creating unnecessary drama.
- Communicate directly and respectfully with performers, technicians and ownership.
- Can receive robust creative feedback, update the plan and move forward without ego.
- Care about leaving behind an organized system that another capable person could run.
REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant stage-management, production-management or live-event leadership experience.
- Strong organizational and written communication skills.
- Comfort working outdoors during evenings in rain, cold, fog, loud audio, masks and crowds.
- Reliable transportation to Maan Farms in Abbotsford.
- Availability for pre-production and rehearsals beginning as soon as possible.
- Strong evening and weekend availability during the intensive September and October operating period.
- Ability to work safely and professionally around performers, families and large public audiences.
COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE $50–$65 per hour, based on relevant experience and demonstrated ability.
- Seasonal hourly position.
- Hours vary by phase and include planning, rehearsals, evening/weekend performances and post-season closeout.
- Shortlisted candidates will be paid for a practical, on-site interview.
HOW TO APPLY
Apply through Indeed with
- Your resume.
- A short note describing one live production or event you personally helped carry from planning into operation.
