We are seeking a highly experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and operationalization of a secure, scalable, and compliant AWS cloud platform supporting healthcare applications.

This role is intended for a senior technical specialist who has successfully built production-grade AWS environments for healthcare or other highly regulated industries. The successful candidate will establish the cloud foundation, security architecture, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD standards that enable the engineering team to deliver software rapidly while maintaining the highest standards of security, reliability, and operational excellence.

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring deep technical expertise, architectural thinking, and the ability to work independently from high-level solution designs through production deployment.

Key ResponsibilitiesCloud Architecture & Infrastructure

- Design and implement secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure following Well-Architected Framework best practices.
- Translate solution architecture into production-ready Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
- Build reusable Terraform modules, networking components, IAM policies, security groups, and infrastructure standards.
- Establish infrastructure patterns that support long-term scalability and maintainability.

Security & Compliance
- Design and implement secure authentication, authorization, encryption, and secrets management.
- Configure AWS security services including IAM, KMS, WAF, GuardDuty, CloudTrail, Security Hub, and related security controls.
- Ensure infrastructure aligns with healthcare security and privacy requirements, including HIPAA (or equivalent healthcare regulatory frameworks), auditability, and data protection best practices.
- Implement least-privilege access models and secure deployment processes.

CI/CD & DevOps Automation
- Design, build, and maintain automated Bitbucket CI/CD pipelines supporting:
- Multiple frontend applications
- Backend microservices
- Docker image build and deployment
- Automated testing
- Infrastructure deployments
- Establish deployment standards that enable development teams to independently and consistently release software.




- Automate infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, rollback strategies, and release management.

Platform Operations
- Design monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability using AWS-native and third-party tools.
- Implement operational dashboards, health monitoring, and incident response capabilities.
- Optimize platform reliability, availability, performance, and cost.
- Develop disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity strategies.

Technical Leadership
- Review application architectures for cloud readiness and operational excellence.
- Provide guidance and mentorship on DevOps practices, cloud architecture, and security.
- Conduct infrastructure, deployment, and security reviews throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, architects, QA, and project stakeholders.

Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on DevOps or Cloud Engineering experience.
- 5+ years designing and managing AWS production environments.
- Demonstrated experience delivering cloud platforms for healthcare organizations or other highly regulated industries.
- Extensive experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
- Strong expertise across AWS services including: VPC, EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudFront, Route 53, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, WAF, KMS, Secrets Manager
- Strong experience building CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket Pipelines.
- Extensive experience with Docker and containerized application deployments.
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, observability, and operational best practices.
- Robust understanding of networking, DNS, load balancing, SSL/TLS, firewalls, and cloud security.
- Experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable cloud platforms.




- Excellent troubleshooting and infrastructure automation skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
- Experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and container orchestration.
- Experience supporting SaaS platforms.
- Experience implementing healthcare compliance controls, including HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar frameworks.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management, penetration testing remediation, and security automation.
- Experience with cost optimization practices.

Engagement The initial engagement will focus on designing and implementing the AWS cloud foundation, security architecture, Terraform modules, and Bitbucket CI/CD pipelines required to support the platform. Following the initial implementation, the DevOps Engineer will provide ongoing advisory and engineering support on an as-needed basis, including infrastructure enhancements, architecture reviews, security improvements, deployment optimization, and operational support as the platform evolves.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who can independently design, implement, and operationalize cloud infrastructure while establishing DevOps best practices that will support the long-term growth and reliability of the platform.

Pay: From $70.00 per hour
