The postdoctoral position in the Drone Transport Initiative at the University of British Columbia focuses on developing essential autonomy algorithms for medical drones over a 2- to 3-year period. Candidates will be responsible for algorithm implementation, partnership collaboration, and regulatory support for flight approvals, while also engaging in flight testing.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop algorithms for drone flight automation
• Collaborate on deployment with industrial partners
• Assist with regulatory filings for flying permits
• Support flight tests with potential travel
• Engage respectfully with Indigenous stakeholders
Requirements:
• PhD in engineering, preferably in robotics or aerospace
• Solid background in optimization and control systems
• Proficiency in C++, ROS, and embedded technology
• Experience in flight or robotic hardware environments
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
