Role Summary
We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and support complex network environments for our clients. In this role, you will act as a technical lead on network projects, mentor junior engineers, and serve as an escalation point for advanced troubleshooting across routing, switching, security, and wireless technologies. You will support infrastructure across our three data centres in Canada and the United States, connected via mesh DWDM backbone.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, configure, and deploy enterprise-grade LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data centre network solutions for clients.
- Lead network infrastructure projects from scoping and design through implementation and handover.
- Provide Tier 3 / escalation support for complex network incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimal client downtime.
- Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless controllers from vendors such as Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Juniper, and Sophos.
- Develop network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Monitor network performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimization, resiliency, and security improvements.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate network engineers.
- Collaborate with account managers and clients to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical client environments outside business hours.
- Stay current with emerging networking technologies, security threats, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of progressive experience in network engineering or a related infrastructure role.
- Strong hands-on expertise with routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, STP).
- Experience with carrier-grade backbone technologies such as MPLS-SR, Cisco NCS, Cisco IOS-XR, and Cisco Nexus is an asset
- Experience with firewall and security technologies (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco ASA/Firepower, Palo Alto, Sophos).
- Experience with enterprise wireless solutions (e.g., Cisco Meraki, Aruba, Ubiquiti).
- Working knowledge of SD-WAN, VPN, and cloud networking concepts (Azure/AWS networking an asset).
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent vendor certifications are strongly preferred.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and client communication skills.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to client sites within Ontario as required.
- Canadian work experience is not required. Equivalent experience gained outside of Canada will be given equal consideration.
