Empower youth in Nisga’a School District as a K-12 Itinerant Student Counsellor, promoting mental health and resilience across multiple schools. This position requires solid communication and community collaboration skills.
The Nisga’a School District is looking for an Itinerant Student Counsellor to support K–12 students across the district. This role involves providing culturally responsive counselling, focusing on social-emotional wellbeing and mental health.
You will work closely with families and school teams to foster student engagement, resilience, and positive coping strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide counselling services in individual and group settings
Support students with social-emotional wellbeing and coping strategies
Collaborate with school teams on behavioural and emotional challenges
Engage with families to enhance student participation in learning
Maintain documentation and adhere to ethical standards
Requirements:
Valid BC Teaching Certificate for Counsellors
Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology or similar
Experience counselling children and youth
Knowledge of culturally responsive practices
Must have a valid BC Driver’s License
Support the healing and growth of Nisga’a students with effective counselling practices.
