Help Create a Safe And Enjoyable Skating Experience The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and customer-focused individuals to join our team as Skate Patrol. This rewarding position plays an important role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of patrons during public skating sessions while helping maintain a clean and welcoming arena facility.
Position Summary The Skate Patrol is responsible for ensuring facility policies, procedures, and regulations are followed during public skating sessions. The successful candidate will actively patrol the ice to promote a safe recreational setting, provide exceptional customer service, and assist with custodial duties throughout the arena.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patrons in a friendly and professional manner and process admissions/payment for public skating.
- Patrol the ice during public skating sessions, promoting safe skating practices and ensuring patron safety.
- Enforce facility rules and regulations in a courteous and respectful manner.
- Respond to incidents and provide minor first aid when required.
- Wear required personal protective equipment, including skates, a CSA-approved helmet, and the provided high-visibility vest.
- Assist with custodial and janitorial duties as assigned.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming facility.
- Perform all duties in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Town policies, and facility service standards.
Qualifications The successful candidate will:
- Hold a current Standard First Aid Level C with CPR certification.
- Possess robust verbal communication and conflict-resolution skills.
- Be able to stand and skate for extended periods in a cold environment.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Display initiative, reliability, flexibility, and sound judgment.
- Be able to work effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Have experience with cash handling or customer service.
- Have experience performing custodial or janitorial duties (considered an asset).
Schedule
- Part-time position.
- Shifts are approximately 4 hours in length.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, statutory holidays, and school holiday periods, including the December Holiday Break and March Break.
