The School The role is within our School of Applied Sciences and Technology. The School offers a variety of programming in Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Sciences, and Animal Health Technology. Through this programming, we offer a variety of certificates, diplomas,



university transfer courses, as well as a degree in computing science.

The Role The Humanities and Social Sciences Department has launched a social work diploma program in 2025-2026. The program has a rural, northern, and Indigenous focus and emphasizes social practice in those contexts. The Department requires a part-time faculty member in social work to

- Teach two sections of SW1120, Social Work with Children, one in the fall and one in the winter
- Position is subject to enrollment and winter section is subject to fall faculty evaluation.

This part-time position will commence on September 1, 2026. Program delivery is on-campus in Grande Prairie.

Requirements A Master of Social Work is required. Professional experience in a variety of social work settings, particularly in settings involving children, and instruction of post-secondary programs and courses in Social Work are an asset.



Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

- Registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Work;
- A minimum of 3-5 years of skilled experience in social work practice in diverse settings, particularly in rural, northern, and Indigenous contexts;
- Candidates must be able to apply different instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different learning styles;
- Knowledge of current educational technologies (e.g., videoconferencing, learning management systems) is desired;
- Sensitivity to cultural competence and the promotion of diversity in program activities and curriculum;
- Knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action;
- The ability to teach both online and classroom-based courses;
- Student-focused;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to build strong relationships across the organization; and
- A high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
