Typically the last level of progression at a specific site and considered a career level engineer. Applies mature engineering knowledge in planning & conducting projects that require independent accomplishment & coordination of difficult assignments. Often guides the work of other engineers.

Recognized in a Business Unit for technical expertise in one or more disciplines.Key Accountabilities: This is the first level of full specialization. Requires application of mature engineering knowledge in planning and conducting projects having scope for independent accomplishment and coordination of complex assignments. Originates and presents complete and final reports on own technical studies reflecting a high degree of originality.

Assigned problems make it necessary to modify established guides, devise new approaches, apply existing criteria in new ways and draw conclusions from comparative situations. Works on large projects and may manage smaller projects. May act as a specialist within a specific technical area requiring presentation of reports, recommendations and interpretations of findings.

Plans and organizes work of assigned personnel. May perform as a task force or group leader in planning and directing work projects. Often assumes mentorship role for other engineers in work group. May act as 1st line leader.





Work is carried out within broad guidelines, but informed guidance is available. Makes independent decisions required in planning, organizing and completing technical assignments. Presents original ideas and viewpoints - regularly demonstrates innovative thinking and solutions.

Assigns and outlines work, advises on technical problems, reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy. May assist in training/coaching less experienced employees and may recommend on selection, training, rating and performance feedback of staff. Recommendations reviewed for soundness of judgment but usually accepted as technically accurate and feasible Minimum Requirements: Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Applied Science or equivalent with 12+ years' experience.

Fully competent in advanced techniques/ procedures. Multi project, or deep technical discipline experience Sound knowledge of more than one field of engineering, and/or supervisory exp. Understands complexity of implementing change at multiple locations/sites and can outline an effective technology change management plan.
