Senior specialist level often recognized as the subject matter expert in the Company or Business Unit. Provides advanced technical expertise in the development of proposals, programs and recommendations. Typically leading a network of specialists to drive operational excellence in a particular engineering or technical discipline.Key Accountabilities: Lead groups containing both professional and non-qualified staff or may exercise authority over a small group of professionals engaged in complex technical applications. Works at an advanced technical level, participates in planning by providing original approaches to practical & economical solutions Reviews and evaluates recommendations and actions proposed by others. Instructs, guides and trains lesser-experienced professionals in development of innovative options. Provides technical advice and guidance on specialized activities that affect more than one department or business unit. Often leads long range in-house technology development including plan, resourcing, and business value. Plans, organizes and carries out special, complex and advanced level studies upon request. Responsible for presenting project proposals, conclusions, or recommendations to senior management. Able to leverage industry networks to create value for the company.



Participates in short- and long-range planning Takes courses of action necessary to expedite the successful accomplishment of assigned projects Assumes mentorship role for other engineers in work group. May act as 1st line leader. Work is assigned in terms of broad objectives to be accomplished, and is reviewed for policy, soundness of approach and general effectiveness. Make responsible decisions not usually subject to technical review on matters assigned except those involving large sums of money or long-range objectives. Displays high degree of originality and ingenuity, devises new approaches, applies existing criteria in new ways, and draws conclusions from comparative situations. Uses independent judgement in determining courses of action required to perform assignments - has freedom to work within broad parameters and policies.

Minimum Requirements: Degree in Engineering, Applied Science or equivalent with broad engineering experience, and/or senior administration experience. Usually requires knowledge of more than one field of engineering or performance by an engineering specialist in a particular field of engineering. Originality and ingenuity required for devising practical and economical solutions to problems. Can lead technical change through all steps of innovation, development, risk management, implementation, training and sustainment. Expert consulting & contracting skills in delivering service to client base.Why Suncor?
