Position: Human Resources Manager – Full-Time Position

Reports to: Chief Administrative Officer

Location: Sault Ste. Marie

Duration: Full Time

Summary Of Function/Key Responsibilities:

The Human Resource Manager is responsible for the oversight of Human Resources for the Missanabie Cree First Nation (MCFN), and all locations (Hubs), and for developing human resources strategies that foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture where employees are engaged and feel valued. The Human Resources Manager works collaboratively with other Directors, Managers and the Band Administrator, to ensure departments and their programs and services are comprised of appropriate staffing complements to address current and future needs. The Human Resources Manager contributes to the accomplishment of the strategic priorities of MCFN by aligning people related strategies to the operational objectives of MCFN and fulfill the strategic goals and objectives of MCFN.

The Human Resources Manager functions within legislative requirements, regulations, policies and procedures, the Mission, Beliefs and Vision of MCFN, and with sensitivity to and knowledge of First Nation cultural values and traditions.

Salary

Starting Salary ranging from $80,000 to $100,000, depending on experience.

Required Skills

Human Resources Designation required.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in progressive human resources leadership roles with experience in business development and partnerships.

Effective communication, relationship management, problem-solving; decision-making and negotiation skills

The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.

The ability to lead a team effectively and work collaboratively with senior leaders, Chief and Council.

Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations including the Canada Labour Code.

Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge of the First Nation cultural values and traditions.

Demonstrated work-related computer skills (e.g. MS 365 Office Suite, Internet, Email, Specialized HRIS Software).

The ideal candidate will actively support cultural revitalization and a willingness to participate.

Robust and proven negotiation skills.

Ability to use good judgment in assessing demanding situations; work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written; computer skills.

Must undergo a criminal record check prior to employment.
