Location: Ajax/Pickering, Ontario
Job Type: Part-Time
Compensation: $25–$30/hour, based on education, experience, and qualifications
Schedule: After school, evenings, weekends, PA days, school holidays, and Summer camps
About the Role
E2 Young Engineers Ajax-Pickering is looking for enthusiastic STEM instructors to lead hands-on learning in robotics, engineering, computer programming, mathematics, and problem-solving.
We welcome university students, post-secondary students, recent graduates, educators, and STEM professionals with relevant knowledge and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, age-appropriate STEM, robotics, coding, and/or mathematics activities.
- Guide students through hands-on building, programming, experimentation, and problem-solving.
- Follow curriculum and program procedures.
- Create a safe, respectful, inclusive, and engaging learning workplace.
- Encourage creativity, critical thinking, curiosity, and independent learning.
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, and staff.
- Prepare materials and assist with classroom setup and cleanup.
Qualifications Post-secondary education or training in a relevant field is preferred, including:
- Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering
- Robotics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering
- Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics
- STEM or Science Education
- Other relevant STEM disciplines
Education: Post-secondary education or training in a relevant STEM field is preferred. Fourth-year university students and graduates are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates in other years of study or with equivalent relevant education, technical knowledge, or experience may also be considered. 4th-year Mechatronics student
3rd-year Engineering student with excellent robotics experience
2nd-year Computer Science student who is an excellent programmer and teacher
Mathematics graduate
Experienced robotics instructor without a university degree
Experienced STEM educator with relevant technical training
Assets
- Robotics or engineering experience
- Programming/coding experience (Scratch, Python, Java, JavaScript, C++, etc.)
- Mathematics enrichment or tutoring
- Abacus, soroban, or mental arithmetic experience is an asset
- Teaching, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, or camp experience
- Experience working with children or youth
We are looking for candidates who can explain STEM concepts clearly, engage children through hands-on learning, and create a positive learning environment.
Working With Children
Successful candidates may be required to complete appropriate background screening or other documentation required by applicable law, organizational policy, or program requirements.
