You will work under the direction of the Kitchen Manager at a correctional facility, ensuring meal compliance with dietary standards. Responsibilities include managing kitchen security, guiding inmate workers, and maintaining cleanliness and order. This role is crucial for providing safe and nutritious meals, contributing to rehabilitation efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare meals following dietary guidelines from the Nutrition Manager
• Supervise and instruct kitchen helpers, including inmates
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure kitchen security
• Adhere to cleanliness standards and manage waste control
• Maintain accurate records of meals and supplies provided
Requirements:
• Journeyman Certificate and at least four years of cooking experience
• Completion of a Food Handler's Course is mandatory
• Experience in a secure environment is an asset
• Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills
• First Aid & CPR certification is beneficial
