Teaching Position – Classroom and Literacy Support Teacher
School District No. 10 – Arrow Lakes, in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern BC, is situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Sinixt, Sylix, Ktunaxa, and Secwepemc Peoples. We have the following temporary contract teaching opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year:

Position: Classroom Support (0.5 FTE) and Literacy Support (0.1 FTE) Teacher

School: Nakusp Elementary School

FTE: 0.6 FTE Temporary Contract

Effective: September 8, 2026 – June 30, 2027

Salary Range: $67,040 - $119,548 (based on 1.0 FTE)

Position Overview

Assignment / Schedule
This role provides support to primary and intermediate classrooms while serving as the school's literacy helping teacher, supporting literacy instruction, intervention, and assessment practices across the school.

Required Qualifications,



Experience and Skills:

A valid Teaching Certificate from the BC Teacher Regulation Branch

Course work specialization and pedagogical knowledge in early literacy and Universal Design for Learning (UDL), diversity/ inclusive education, social emotional learning (SEL), self-regulation.

Successful experience integrating literacy and interventions in multi-grade classrooms to support student learning outcomes

Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills and strengths working within a team environment

Successful experience integrating socio-emotional learning and self-regulated learning

Expertise in specific social, emotional, and behavioural needs, self-regulation and SOGI 123 curricula

Commitment to co-developing the School Growth Plan and collaboratively organizing for learning

Professional learning inquiry experience that informs professional practice

Commitment and expertise in building relationships with parents and community

Willingness to participate in the school's extra-curricular programs will be an asset
