The Legislative Library provides non-partisan access to specialized information resources for the Legislature, government, and people of Manitoba, and ensures current and future access to Manitoba's published heritage. The Library is seeking a skilled library professional to join the government publications team as the Government Publications Library Technician.

Duties:
Reporting to the Head, Government Publications and Library Systems, the incumbent identifies, acquires, organizes, and catalogues legislative and government publications from Manitoba and other Canadian or international jurisdictions.



Creates bibliographical records according to national and international library standards for the Library’s catalogue and adds publications and their metadata to the Library's Digital Collection of Manitoba government publications. Assists with reference and research services.

Qualifications:
Essential:

Good general knowledge of library operations, procedures and standards derived from a Library and Information Technology diploma program.

Knowledge and experience working in an integrated library system.

Knowledge and experience with MARC records and use of RDA to create, upgrade or edit catalogue records.

Knowledge and experience working with government publications.

Organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple activities.

Ability to work independently.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work diplomatically and effectively with a variety of stakeholders.

Conditions of Employment:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Ability to perform shelving and lifting duties up to 30 lbs independently.
