This position is onsite

This is a contract position until January 2028

Are you an experienced application developer interested in working on technology solutions that support warehouse, distribution centers and supply chain operations. Reporting to the Manager, Development and Design, you will contribute to the design, development, integration, sustainment, and support of enterprise IT systems used across LCBO’s warehouse and distribution centre environment.

This role will support technology modernization, operational system enhancements, and application integrations, including occasional travel to LCBO distribution centres to support implementations, troubleshooting, and business-facing initiatives.

If you are interested in joining a growing IT Development team at one of Ontario’s most recognizable retail organizations and want to work on technology that directly supports supply chain, logistics, warehouse operations, and retail execution, this is the role for you.

About The Role

- Design, develop, enhance, and support enterprise applications that integrate with warehouse, distribution centre, supply chain, and retail systems.
- Develop and maintain scalable application components, integration services, automation scripts, and microservices-based solutions using technologies such as Java, Python, PowerShell, REST APIs, and database platforms.
- Support application and system integrations across enterprise IT platforms, warehouse systems, industrial systems, and operational technology environments.
- Work with the Ignition platform from Inductive Automation to support application development, system integration, visualization, automation, and operational reporting needs.
- Support integrations involving PLC systems, including Allen-Bradley, and related OPC connectivity where required.
- Collaborate with business partners, warehouse operations teams, architecture, infrastructure, vendors, and technology teams to deliver reliable, supportable, and business-aligned solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to warehouse,

distribution centre, and enterprise application environments.
- Work with databases to support querying, reporting, data analysis, application configuration, and operational support activities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, solution designs, support procedures, and knowledge artifacts for applications and integrations.
- Contribute to modernization initiatives by analyzing existing systems, identifying improvement opportunities, and supporting the transition to more scalable and maintainable technology solutions.

About You

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise application development, preferably using Java, Python, PowerShell, REST APIs, and database technologies.
- Experience developing, supporting, or integrating enterprise applications used in operational or business-critical environments.
- Strong understanding of application development practices, SDLC, testing, deployment, production support, and technical documentation.
- Experience working with relational databases such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting application integrations using APIs, scripting, automation, file-based interfaces, or middleware patterns.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across applications, databases, integrations, infrastructure, and vendor-supported platforms.

Nice To Have / Preferred Skills

- Experience with warehouse management systems, distribution centre systems, supply chain systems, or logistics technology platforms, preferably in the retail space.
- Experience with the Ignition platform from Inductive Automation. Ignition certification, including Gold level, would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of PLC systems, preferably Allen-Bradley, and familiarity with OPC connectivity.

- Experience integrating Ignition, PLC, or automation platforms with enterprise or warehouse systems such as Manhattan or similar platforms.
- Experience with Wonderware, Zebra programming, barcode or labelling technologies, or other distribution centre technology tools.
- Understanding of network protocols, connectivity troubleshooting, or tools such as Wireshark.
- Familiarity with Docker, Git, CI/CD, DevOps practices, Agile, or Scrum delivery methods.
- Exposure to legacy platforms or programming languages such as OpenVMS, C++, or Fortran would be considered an asset.

We offer a comprehensive suite of benefits including
