Our client is a well-established distribution organization in Oakville looking for a hands-on, transactional Accountant to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, maintaining accurate financial records, and managing the day-to-day accounting activities that keep the business running smoothly.

The Opportunity This is a highly transactional accounting position with responsibility across reconciliations, payments, inventory, payroll support, banking, and general accounting.
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working through a high volume of day-to-day accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities Complete monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved
Record and maintain day-to-day accounting entries, including journal entries and cheque activity
Monitor daily banking activity across Canadian and U.S. accounts
Manage payment processing for equipment, parts, and other supplier obligations
Maintain accurate inventory records and investigate variances, outdated items, and costing discrepancies
Review inventory costing and ensure item information is kept current




Maintain payroll-related records and perform regular checks for accuracy
Assist with the preparation and submission of GST/HST and CARM-related filings
Review employee expense claims for accuracy, including applicable taxes
Maintain invoicing and records related to specific inventory items
Complete required documentation and registrations related to equipment sales and ownership
Support the accounting team through year-end activities and the preparation of information required for external audits
Provide coverage for AP and AR functions when required, including deposits, account balances, and related banking information
Assist with various accounting-related tasks and projects as they arise
What We're Looking For A steady accountant with 5+ years of accounting experience
Robust understanding of reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end processes
Experience working with inventory and/or cost accounting is an asset
Payroll and GST/HST experience preferred
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Sage300 experience is an asset
Willingness to work 100% on-site in Oakville
