MaKami College offers students in-person, online, and blended programs in Massage Therapy, Health Care Aide, Business Administrative Assistant, Medical Office Assistant, and more. The primary responsibility of an Instructor is to provide quality academic instruction to students. In addition, it is the responsibility of every Instructor to ensure that each student in his/her class has an enjoyable, productive, challenging, and meaningful experience in that class.

Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities (Including But Not Limited To The Following)

Provide appropriate, intellectually stimulating instruction in each class by taking into consideration the unique abilities of each student

Develop curriculum and research and prepare lessons according to College standards/guideliines and with Program Manager approval

Use a variety of instructional techniques to present curriculum to students (lectures, demonstrations, hands-on training, case studies, independent and group projects)





Provide individualized instruction when required

Lead and support students both in-person and online

Consult with students regarding specific academic or vocational concerns

Prepare, administer and mark student exams and assignments

Ensure that classroom lessons run smoothly through the use of effective classroom management techniques that keep students organized, orderly, focused, attentive, on task and academically productive during class

Develop and administer assessments, practical exams, and assignments to evaluate students' understanding and application of the course material.

Provide constructive feedback to students to support their learning and development.

Ensure that attendance is accurately recorded

Follow specific curriculum guides in instructing on a variety of Early Childhood Education Subjects

Responsible for managing the Learning Assistants (LAs) time appropriately and communicating the requirements for class and follow-up needs for that class

Monitor the behaviour of students and staff in the academic setting, work with the Student Advisory Services Team, Strategic Academic Learning Team and the Learning Assistant to monitor classroom operations in terms of absenteeism, tardiness, and discipline

Other duties as assigned which are deemed necessary to support colleagues in their roles or support the College in achieving its goals and objectives

Education And Experience

Minimum of Level 3 Early Childhood Educator Alberta Certification

Minimum Early Childhood Education Diploma or equivalent education





Training and experience in FLIGHT Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework

Knowledge and / or experience in a variety of Early Childhood Curriculum Approaches (eg., Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio Inspired)

Experience with Moodle, PowerPoint and Lillio (Formerly HiMama) preferred

Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance

Minimum of Instructional Experience or Leadership in Early Childhood Education of 1-2 years

Have an open-minded and holistic view of Early Childhood Education and the role of an Early Childhood Educator preferred

Skills And Competencies

Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the subject matter

Adaptable and able to adapt to a variety of situations

Able to follow directions and teach a prescribed curriculum and designed series of activities

Ability in public speaking, presenting, and Leading Large groups

Team player with a group goal focus

Able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings

Effectively communicate study strategies to ensure academic success

Possess good organizational skills

Able to work with students with different abilities and backgrounds and demonstrate patience when dealing with students who struggle with material.

Familiar with classroom routines
