Title Systems Testing/QA Specialist
Description To support Government of Ontario priorities under Bill 5, Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act 2025, the resource may be partially assigned to Bill 5 projects as needed.
Working Hours Onsite, 7.25 hours/day between 8:00–5:00 PM, Monday–Friday. Reachable in person or via OPS collaboration tools. No overtime charges for work outside normal hours.
Responsibilities
- Provide advice on testing strategy, plans, tools, and resources.
- Plan/organize testing for large systems (GUI & non-GUI), including integration, specialized, and UAT (e.g., stress tests).
- Develop and execute test plans, scripts, and cases; collaborate with IT leads and project teams.
- Perform QA/testing: system, web UI, integration, functional/non-functional, regression, unit, post-release, load, smoke, performance, accessibility/AODA.
- Create/manage testing artifacts in Azure DevOps (plans, cases, data, results, defects, reports).
- Prepare test data covering all scenarios; perform data analysis/validation for ETL processing (accuracy, integrity, redundancy, format).
- Compare source/target data via SQL/programs/tools.
- Communicate results via automated reports; provide defect updates in stand-ups/meetings.
- Support UAT activities; participate in requirement workshops, sprint reviews, walkthroughs.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure quality in agile lifecycle.
- Investigate defects with developers/BA; provide daily status reports.
- Complete tasks/milestones on time; comply with Ontario Government I⁢ directives, policies, security, confidentiality.
General Skills
- Experience planning/implementing testing efforts.
- Knowledge of structured methodologies, CASE tools, query tools, automated test tools, version control.
- Experience executing functional/non-functional/system integration tests, supporting UAT.
- Solid QA principles, documentation, test data creation, SDLC knowledge.
- Analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of automated testing tools.
Desirable Skills
- Programming language experience; object-oriented testing methods.
- Knowledge of Information Management principles.
- Familiarity with AODA standards.
- Experience coding automated test scripts, testing COTS (e.g., MS Dynamics CRM).
- DevOps methodology, ETL/PowerBI/web app testing.
- Identifying/documenting bugs, installing apps/databases for automation.
- Collaborating with stakeholders on automation workflows.
- Gathering/documenting requirements for automation solutions.
Knowledge Transfer
- Documentation and facilitation of knowledge transfer sessions.
- Transfer to client staff in specified format.
Skills Requirements Manual Testing & QA (65%)
- 3+ years MS Dynamics CRM testing.
- 8+ years developing strategies/plans, test cases, scenarios/scripts.
- 8+ years preparing test data.
- 8+ years testing non-functional requirements (fail-over, response times, data integrity, security).
- 8+ years web-based system testing (integration, unit, regression, functional, accessibility, smoke, performance/stress).
BI & ETL Testing (25%)
- 5+ years BI product & ETL testing.
- 3+ years data analysis/validation/comparison for BI products.
- Knowledge of end-to-end ETL/BI testing methods.
Agile & General Skills (10%)
- Experience with Agile methodology, Azure DevOps.
- Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, facilitation, and reporting skills.
- Ability to deliver within strict timelines; quick learner with good research skills.
Must Have
- 3+ years MS Dynamics CRM testing.
- 5+ years BI/ETL testing.
- 8+ years web-based system QA (integration, unit, regression, functional, accessibility, non-functional, smoke, performance/stress).
