Fiber Optic Splicer We are looking for a skilled and technical Fiber Optic Splicer to join our utility crew. You will perform fusion splicing, testing, and troubleshooting on complex fiber optic networks in both aerial and underground environments.
The Fiber Optic Splicer will support the lead Civil Construction Supervisor in the execution of daily tasks while maintaining a rigorous commitment to site safety and organization.
Key Responsibilities: Splice and test various types of fiber optic cable
Troubleshoots system problems for various customers
Can read system maps and/or splicing documentation from Network Providers
Can operate all types of splicing and testing equipment
Document completed work within as-builts (experience in Excel an asset).
Able to communicate and work effectively with others. This includes communicating
respectively with the public in residential work sites. Soft Skills & Physical Requirements
Ability to consistently lift, carry,
and maneuver materials up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
Capable of frequent kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing (ladders, scaffolding, or uneven terrain) while carrying tools.
Capacity to work in high-demand environments, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and rain, while wearing full PPE (Hard hat, steel toes, fall arrest harness).
Qualifications: Certified Fiber Optic Technician Course (CFOT) and/or Certified Fiber Optic Specialist/Splicing (CFOS/S) an asset.
3 to 5 years experience
