The Role
Under the direction of the Superintendent, Geospatial Solutions, this position is responsible for supporting the City’s continuous initiatives to modernize business processes and enhance customer service through the effective use of geospatial technologies, including the City’s ArcGIS Enterprise platform, Trimble’s Cityworks, and related integrations. The Geospatial Solutions Analyst will provide support to a variety of users across internal departments, external agencies, and the public.

The ideal candidate is skilled working between business and technical teams, communicating complex information with stakeholders of all knowledge levels and translating needs into clear technical solutions.

Please note that due to the nature of this position, candidates must be able to work regularly on-site from the designated work location.

Qualifications

Three (3) year degree or diploma in GIS/Geomatics or a related field;

Two (2) to three (3) years of related work experience;

An acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered.





Valid G Class license with an abstract acceptable to City standards

Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) designation considered an asset

The Candidate

Supports the implementation, maintenance, and administration of GIS, Cityworks, and related technology based on user needs and an understanding of business processes and industry requirements.

Assists with identifying end-user training needs; creating documentation and methodology; and training end-users in the use of new and/or existing software, programs, and related business processes.

Maintains an awareness of technological developments, changing business processes and collaborates with team members and users to identify technical opportunities for continuous improvement.

Provides front-line support to staff by resolving technical issues and discussing system functionality, future releases, and upgrades with vendors and consultants.

Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills to work effectively with internal and external customers.

Ability to effectively communicate complex information both orally and in writing with stakeholders/users of all knowledge levels.

Ability to use logic, reason, and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and system errors and malfunctions.

Experience with modern Esri GIS software (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, Insights, Field Maps, Dashboards, Story Maps, Experience Builder, Arcade).Working knowledge of SDE databases to assist with database maintenance, perform complex queries, create scripts, manipulate data, and automate procedures.





Strong computer skills in MS Office, SQL, Python, HTML, and reporting tools (i.e., Crystal Reports and Active Reports). Experience with FME would be considered an asset.

Previous experience in designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining Cityworks or similar work management applications would be considered an asset.

Experience working on project teams and supporting staff at all levels.
