The Pediatric ICU Registered Nurse in critical care works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of Pediatric ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards. Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team. The Registered Nurse in the Pediatric ICU is also responsible for professional accountability and development.
Care for pediatric patient needs throughout their recovery in pediatric critical care
Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
Responding to medical emergencies for critical pediatric patients
Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
Required
Registered Nurse license
BLS
Associates Degree in Nursing
At least 1 year of RN experience in a Pediatric Critical Care setting - PICU
