Cellula is looking to add a Software Product Owner to its Engineering team for an 8 month contract to support product development and project delivery.

The Software Product Owner is the person who oversees the software product development at Cellula, coordinating with the Software Engineering Manager on managing the technical product development of Cellula’s software products. This role requires a person who exhibits strong leadership qualities, good judgement, and can be trusted to manage people, tasks,
and coordinate with other project managers and program managers to manage large critical projects with minimal supervision. The person must be well rounded and comfortable being in charge. A Software Product Owner will be required to coordinate software projects and programs, support AUV projects, and support sales and marketing. They are also required to have a strong understanding of the products, programs, technologies, or projects they are responsible for.
The Software Product Owner reports to the Software Engineering manager and is responsible for working with the manager and other stakeholders to develop and execute a product, technology or strategy roadmap. This includes leveraging paid projects, allocated internal funding, and other opportunities to develop a CVP (commercially viable product), technology, or capability, and progress the roadmap. The Software Product Owner must maintain a long-term view of the product line to guide it through its initial prototype and conceptual phase all the way to large scale deployment.

Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and maintain software product development roadmap
Contribute to software task estimation, resourcing, and progress reporting
Exercising good judgment
Understanding Cellula’s products technically and commercially
Lead end-to-end execution of programs to develop a product, technology, regional or sector capability.
Oversee schedule, resources, budget, milestone, production planning and tracking
Responsibility for compliance, assurance and acceptance activities and deliverables
Work with Quality manager to ensure quality procedure compliance
Manage tasks and information in the task management software and ERP
Working with Sales and Marketing Providing technical expertise, content, and support for sales and marketing activities.
Providing an interface between sales and engineering
Working with Engineering and Business Support: Supporting resource planning, hiring and growth modeling
Delivering effective management to ensure designs meet product development and project objectives.
Working collaboratively to improve processes and overall quality of our products and services.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience as a managing teams in software development, robotics, subsea, or similar industry
Legally eligible to work in Canada and eligible for required security screening
Excellent written & verbal communication skills and leadership skills
Proactive and consultative management style
Strong problem identification and solving skills
Strong understanding of software development and underwater technology
Advanced skills working with project reports, schedules and budgets
Software configuration management experience
Ability to manage multiple complex technical projects simultaneously
Proven ability to create design schedules and lead teams to meet deadlines
Analytical, thorough, resourceful, and detail oriented
Team and customer service focused
Self-motivated, hardworking, flexible
Experience with electro-mechanical systems integration
Experience with software development
Experience with autonomous robotics, underwater or maritime systems
Experience working in ISO 9001 quality system organization
Offshore experience and knowledge
Acoustic payload knowledge (sonars, survey, hydrographic, sonobuoys)
PMP or Professional Engineer certification
Reports to: Software Engineering Manager
