Description In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reports to the Nurse Manager or designate. Transports patients between the designated sending area and the appropriate receiving unit. Ensures patient comfort needs are met in the area by performing patient care duties such as applying warm blankets to patients, and emptying drainage catheters. Maintains designated work and storage areas by checking and re-stocking equipment and supplies, checking oxygen tanks and suction bottles,



and cleaning and changing beds.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Grade 10 plus graduation from a Nursing Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Registered with the BC Care Aide registry.

Skills And Abilities

- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
