HR Manager

Our client is a well-established manufacturing company in Edmonton that is going through an exciting period of successful growth and evolution.
We are looking for an HR Manager who can take ownership of the company's HR and Payroll function and help build the structure, processes, and practices needed to support this next stage of growth.
This is a highly hands-on role and will be the primary HR and Payroll resource for the organization, working closely with managers and leadership to support employees and ensure the company remains compliant with employment legislation and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full HR function for the organization in partnership with the CFO and other managers
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure employees are paid accurately and on time (payroll is fairly automated and streamlined)
- Partner with managers on employee relations matters, including performance management, workplace concerns, and disciplinary issues
- Manage compensation programs and support salary reviews and adjustments
- Work closely with immigration lawyers on work permits, immigration matters, and related documentation
- Develop, update, and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation
- Help establish more consistent and professional HR processes across the organization
- Support managers with recruitment, onboarding, employee development, and other HR-related needs
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
- Provide guidance to leadership and managers on HR best practices and employment-related matters
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally within a manufacturing or similar industrial setting
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian / Alberta employment legislation and HR best practices
- Hands-on payroll experience
- Experience managing employee relations and working directly with managers
- Experience with compensation administration and HR policy development
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Practical, approachable, and comfortable working independently
- Ability to balance day-to-day HR responsibilities with the development and implementation of more formal HR processes
