Job Description
We are seeking a certified genetic counselor to join our team! This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply advanced genomics expertise to provide genetic assessment and counselling for research participants, patients/families with neurodevelopmental conditions, and help develop pathways of care for families with developmental disabilities. In this role, the successful applicant would work alongside internationally renowned research and clinical teams.



The Genetic Counsellor will contribute to return-of-results processes and research protocol development related to genomic research in neurodevelopmental disorders as well as to development of health care pathways for kids with neurodevelopmental conditions and rare genetic findings.

Key Responsibilities

- Responsible for interpreting and communicating genetic test results to research participants and families
- Responsible for providing post-test genetic counselling to research participants and families, as well as potentially pre- and post- counseling for patients
- Provide psychosocial counselling and facilitate access to clinical, community, and advocacy resources
- Assist with the development of return-of-results protocols and participant communication materials
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including clinicians, scientists, psychologists, geneticists, and research coordinators
- Participate in ethics submissions, protocol development, and knowledge translation activities as appropriate
- Maintain accurate clinical and research documentation in accordance with institutional, ethical, and privacy requirements

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Master's degree in Genetic Counselling or equivalent
- Certification (or eligibility for certification) through the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors (CAGC) and/or American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC)
- Experience in neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and/or pediatric genetics is an asset
- Experience working with research studies and ethics requirements is an asset
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Robust written and oral communication skills




- Strong ability to communicate genetic results to research participants and families
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
