About the Role

Mianco Group Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Fleet & Tools Manager to lead our Fleet Department and oversee the management of our fleet, heavy equipment, tools, trailers and support assets across our Infrastructure, Environmental and Ready-Mix divisions.

Reporting to senior leadership, the Fleet & Tools Manager is responsible for overseeing the Fleet & Tools Administrator, Fleet Coordinator and our in-house mechanics, while ensuring our equipment is safe, reliable, well-maintained and available to support operations.

Working closely with Operations, Project Managers and Superintendents, this role is responsible for planning, coordinating and continuously improving the systems that keep our equipment operating efficiently and our projects moving.

This is a management position, but it is also a hands-on role. The successful candidate should be comfortable spending time in the office, shop and yard, working directly with mechanics, operators and project teams to solve problems and keep operations running efficiently.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Department Management

- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Fleet Department.
- Supervise and support the Fleet & Tools Administrator, Fleet Coordinator and in-house mechanics.
- Assign departmental priorities and coordinate daily workloads.
- Develop, implement and continuously improve fleet procedures and best practices.
- Foster a culture of accountability, organization and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with senior leadership to establish departmental goals and priorities.

Fleet Operations

- Oversee the company's fleet of heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, company vehicles, tools and support assets.
- Ensure equipment is available, maintained and ready to support operations.
- Coordinate equipment movements between projects and divisions.
- Monitor fleet utilization and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Maintain accurate fleet records, service histories and asset information.
- Oversee licensing, registrations, inspections and fleet compliance requirements.

Shop & Mechanical Operations

- Direct and prioritize the daily activities of our in-house mechanics.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance programs.
- Schedule repairs based on operational priorities.
- Determine which repairs should be completed internally versus outsourced.
- Monitor repair quality, turnaround times and equipment downtime.
- Ensure the shop operates safely, efficiently and in an organized manner.

Planning & Operations Support

- Work closely with Operations, Project Managers and Superintendents to forecast fleet requirements.




- Coordinate equipment readiness for upcoming projects.
- Plan equipment transfers between projects and divisions.
- Anticipate maintenance requirements before they impact operations.
- Identify potential equipment shortages and recommend solutions.
- Support operational planning meetings by providing fleet readiness updates.

Vendor & Rental Management

- Develop and maintain relationships with equipment dealers, rental companies, repair facilities and suppliers.
- Obtain quotations and negotiate competitive rental rates and service agreements.
- Coordinate equipment rentals and off-rent schedules.
- Review vendor performance, repair quality and turnaround times.
- Track warranty claims and equipment repair history.
- Review repair and rental invoices for accuracy.
- Identify opportunities to reduce fleet operating costs while maintaining reliability and service levels.

Asset & Tool Management

- Oversee company-wide accountability for tools, attachments and equipment accessories.
- Ensure inventory systems are accurate and up to date.
- Monitor tool sign-outs, transfers and returns.
- Reduce equipment loss through improved accountability and organization.
- Maintain organized yards, storage areas and fleet facilities.

Systems & Continuous Improvement

- Improve fleet procedures and departmental workflows.
- Utilize telematics and operational data to support decision-making.
- Assist with the continued implementation and improvement of Acumatica ERP.
- Develop reports and key performance indicators to monitor fleet performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through better systems, technology and processes.

Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years of experience managing construction fleets, heavy equipment or commercial vehicles.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance programs.
- Experience supervising mechanics or maintenance personnel is considered a strong asset.
- Strong organizational, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Comfortable working with operational data, reporting and budgeting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.




- Experience with fleet management software and telematics systems is considered an asset.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence.

Experience in civil construction, environmental services, aggregates, ready-mix or heavy equipment is strongly preferred.
