We provide support to a 50 year-old woman who is confined to an electric wheelchair but despite these challenges is fun-loving, very adventurous and likes to get out and get the best out of life! Her household includes her housemate, two large, boisterous, & very loving dogs, and two lovely kitties.

Job description

To provide support in all aspects of daily life.

Duties:

- Assisting client with personal hygiene, toileting, bathing and getting dressed including safely operating a lift and doing transfers.
- Assisting client with housekeeping, including laundry, general cleaning, cleaning the cat's litter box and other tasks as requested by client.
- Providing companionship and emotional support.
- Preparing food and feeding client.
- Administering medication.
- Transporting client to appointments and other daily errands.
- Providing support with social and recreational activities.
- Providing pet care including taking the dog out for a few short daily walks.

Training for lift equipment and other adaptive devices will be provided as part of orientation.

Current openings:

Every 2nd weekend with the possibility of additional weekday evenings,



hours as follows:

- Morning shifts are 3 hours starting at 10am
- Evening shifts are 6 hours (Saturdays) and 5 hours (Sundays) starting at 5pm

Qualifications:

- Caregiving experience
- Ability to provide homecare services
- Willingness and ability to perform heavy lifting/transfers with proper use of a lift
- Willingness and ability to drive client's personal vehicle safely both in and out of town
- Good communication and social skills
- Ability to prepare meals well
- Punctual and reliable

*Applicants who are afraid of animals or unable to communicate with ease in English will not be considered.

Requirements:

- Clean criminal records check no more than one year old
- Minimum of class 5 Driver's License and a clean driving record - non-negotiable!
- Two reference letters
