Terra Early Learning is a community-minded early years centre with a progressive educational approach. Education for Sustainability is woven into all aspects of our engaging, authentic, and experiential curriculum of inquiry, outdoor learning, play-based learning, and Montessori. Our program is integrated to tailor to students’ individual needs with an intentional focus on children’s social-emotional development, health, and well-being.
The Opportunity
Terra is seeking caring, passionate, and dedicated On-Call/Substitute Educators to support our Infant/Toddler, and 3–5 Programs across our centers.
This role is ideal for flexible, adaptable educators who enjoy working with diverse teams and are committed to providing exceptional experiences for children and families. We are looking for individuals with a commitment to lifelong learning who thrive in dynamic environments and are passionate about supporting children's growth, development, and well-being.
The Role
As an On-Call/Substitute Educator, you will:
- Provide high-quality care by supporting our centres as staffing needs arise.
- Help prepare the classroom to ensure a clean and safe environment, including the organization of classroom materials.
- Provide learning experiences and opportunities to our young children, with a commitment to uphold our mission and vision towards sustainable living.
- Develop a strong understanding of Terra’s school culture.
- Establish loving, positive, secure and secure relationships with the children.
- Nurture children’s individual physical, social-emotional, and mental wellness needs.
- Connect and engage in collaborative partnerships with fellow educators, colleagues, leaders, families, and the greater community.
On-Call Availability
Most shifts will be offered at least one day in advance. Occasionally, you may be contacted before 8:00 a.m. on the same day to cover an unexpected staff absence. Flexibility is appreciated.
Qualifications
- Eligible to work in Canada.
- Valid BC ECE or ECEA or IT Certificate.
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C & AED.
- Experience working with young children children is an asset.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $19.00-$28.00 per hour
