The Bachelor of Education program in the School of Education (Faculty of Education & Social Work) at Thompson Rivers University is seeking a sessional faculty member to teach one section of EDTE 3140: Organizing and Managing Technology Learning Facilities with a focus on shop safety for B.Ed. Trades and Technology teacher candidates. Strong candidates will have teaching experience in K-12 and post-secondary settings related to the shop discipline.

EDTE 3140 (Organizing and Managing Technology Learning Facilities):
Students are instructed in the planning, organization, and management of several types of shop-, mathematics-, and science-related education facilities. The scope of this course prepares students for instruction in a shop or laboratory and includes a complete plan of organization, safety, and management that details the necessary equipment, materials, and supplies. Methods of purchasing, budgeting, financial control, inventory procedures, and problems related to a shop or laboratory learning environment management are included.



Participants are introduced to software that is used to organize and track equipment, materials, supplies, budgets, and expenditures.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Master of Education is required; PhD or EdD is preferred.
- A Bachelor of Education is required.
- A minimum of one (1) degree in education is required.
- Expertise in K-12 education in British Columbia is required.
- Three (3) years of outstanding full time or equivalent hours teaching in K-12 settings is required.
- Evidence of successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level is strongly preferred.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills required.
- Demonstrated experience in integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62) required.
- Proven skills in building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect (TRC CA 63) required.
- Teaching excellence, including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10) required.
