Breton Ability is looking for a Psychologist to join our brand new Disability Support Outreach Team (DSOT) and help people with disabilities live with greater choice, dignity, and independence. Be part of something new from the beginning. DSOT is a brand-new team being built to bring Remedy to life, and this role offers a rare opportunity to help shape how innovative, community-based disability supports are delivered across Cape Breton.

This is a chance to do meaningful clinical work in a setting where your expertise directly improves everyday life. You will provide assessment, therapy, consultation, and behavioural support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health needs, dual diagnoses, and complex behavioural presentations. As part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team, you will help turn ideas into practical supports rooted in innovation, compassion, human rights, and real community impact.

Flexible by design: Funding is available for one full-time equivalent (FTE 0.8/32 hours per week) Occupational Therapist position. The organization is committed to flexibility and is open to a range of scheduling arrangements, including full-time, part-time, shared, or customized schedules. Candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of their preferred hours, as we are willing to explore options that support both service delivery and work-life balance. What you’ll do:

· Provide meaningful psychological assessment, therapy, and consultation.





· Help shape Individual Program Plans and Positive Behaviour Support Plans.

· Support teams, families, and community partners with practical, evidence-informed strategies.

· Champion trauma-informed, person-directed, and human rights-based practice.

· Contribute to service growth, professional practice, and positive change across the sector.

What you bring:

· A Master’s degree in Psychology from an accredited program.

· Eligibility for registration, or candidate registration, with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology.

· Experience supporting people with disabilities, mental health needs, and/or complex behaviours.

· A strong foundation in assessment, evidence-based intervention, trauma-informed care, and supported decision-making.

Where you’ll work: This community-based role includes office, community, and virtual work, with travel across the service region. A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are required.
